QTA's Exhibition Stand Receives Second Award in Under Two Months
Doha, 18 January: Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has received its second Best Stand Award at a travel exhibition in Finland. QTA representatives received a Certificate of Honour for the best stand (in the International Stand Class) from exhibition organizers on Friday, January 16. The Qatar stand was among 50 countries and 1600 exhibitors. QTA also won the Best Standard Award in November of 2003 at the World Travel Market in London, one of the most important travel and tourism industry exhibitions in the world.
Winning this award underlines the international impact we are achieving with our new identity and branding. Two international awards in the first two months is something to be proud of, said Mr. Fred van Eijk, CEO of QTA. QTA's state-of-the-art exhibition stand resembles a traditional Qatari fortress. Its exterior walls are shaped like those of a fortified castle, and its interior is designed with transparent glass floor that give visitors the sensation of being on a beautiful beach.
QTA proudly hosted leading travel and tourism business representatives and a large contingent of international media. Once in the stand visitors were invited to experience traditional Qatari hospitality in an environment that offered a taste of the country's culture and heritage.
We are receiving a lot of inquiries from North European tour operators and the Finish public about Qatar as a new quality winter destination, said Mr. Ismail Abu Qasoud, Acting Manager Promotions and member of the delegation visiting Finland, adding that they had received serious inquiries from Finish companies who agreed to visit Qatar in February.
